The "Healing Harlem" project is a visionary architectural proposal designed to revitalize the intersection of Edgecombe Ave and W 136th St in New York City through innovative, community-focused structures. It begins with a high-line bridge extending from Saint Nicholas Park, guiding visitors to the site while creating a dynamic connection to nature. At the end of the bridge, two small greenhouses showcase indigenous plants and serve as a gateway to the project. Beneath the high line, open spaces accommodate bike lanes, produce markets, and gardens, fostering community interaction and sustainable practices. A nearby vacant townhouse transforms into a headquarters where plants from the gardens are processed into essential oils and medicinal products, supporting health and wellness. Additionally, the headquarters offers these products for sale, enriching the local economy. The centerpiece of the project is a long rooftop greenhouse spanning W 136th to W 137th St, housing the primary cultivation area for indigenous plants. Together, these elements create a harmonious blend of urban design, sustainability, and cultural appreciation, aiming to heal and empower Harlem.
