Abstract
Where do our vendors come from? Where do they source their wares? In East Harlem this has been an everchanging answer. As we researched historical records and spoke with some vendors we began to piece together a tapestry of interweaving records of connected routes of trade and culture. We identified seemingly simple products such as shaved ice (or raspados, icees, piraguas, frio frios, granizadas...) being named by an almost infinite list of names and even with entirely new flavors developed on the streets of East Harlem.
